Worship of Mahakali on Kali Chaudas ~ Jai Maa Kali!!
Shakti, the Goddess personifying divine power is worshipped in three forms - Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasaraswati. Mahakali takes away our darkness – our kala. She takes away the darkness from everyone who strives for perfection by performing the spiritual disciplines of purifying austerities. “Kala” also means time, and Kali means the One Who is Beyond Time. In the form of Prakriti, Mother Nature, Kali dances on the field of consciousness, depicted as the broad chest of Lord Shiva. She dances with wild and unselfconscious abandon. She is Mukti, the primal energy of spiritual freedom.
Kali Mata is the Energy of Wisdom (jnana shakti), and by Her Grace all knowledge is conceived, and all wisdom is intuited. With Her wisdom, Kali takes away the darkness of the external world. Then She bestows the True Light of the inner world. Her love and her grace are beyond what words can describe. Kali is our Mother, and the Mother of all the universes. With Her love we become unattached, and free from action and reaction – we become a silent witness resting in universal delight.
Kali Chaudas, a day before Diwali, is celebrated by worshiping Mahakali in some parts of India. Kal means Darkness; thus Kali takes away the Darkness that surround our life. She takes away the darkness from every individual who strives in the path of perfection by performing the spiritual disciplines of purifying austerities. Worship to Her brings peace and mental satisfaction - a devotee is always helped by the cosmic power. It is good to have faith and to offer the prayer on Kali puja to any temple or to pray at home.
Among the Dus Mahavidyas, Goddess Kali maintains a prominent position. The word "Kali" stands for “the black one”. This word originated from the Hindi word "Kala" which stands for time, black, lord of death and death. In the Dus Mahavidya Sadhak Sadna, Ahakali is considered as the most powerful and influential goddess which gives influential immediate results. Ashtsidhis are attained by the sadhaks by performing this sadhana in a perfect way. In order to please the Goddess Kali mantras are chanted on night of Kali Chaudas. Puja is performed with her idol or picture and also Yantras are used. There are other means of worshipping the Goddess which include offerings, rituals and other ceremonies. SHE can give you anything and everything. Once she is pleased, all the aspirations of an individual can be fulfilled by her.
Benefits of Worship ~ When one can reside within, without identification or attachment to the ever-changing external influences, then the Supreme Truth can be realized. This is the path that Mother Kali shows us. By spreading Her darkness over worldly desire, Kali makes seekers totally oblivious to the transient external elements. They then become totally contained the Self.
