In Bengal, where she is widely worshiped as Mahisa sur mardini ( the slayer of Mahisa the demon) this aspect of Durga is understood as the power of Feminity: if it can deliver, it can also sever. In a land which is so privileged to Know God as Mother,i think we should be setting examples rather than showing a lack of respect for our women. Spiritually speaking, India should lead the world in this. We must awaken to the great vision of our Ancient Rishis and seers.
