Lord Shiva is Adi Yogi and the Adi Guru. He is the foremost among the yogis and the first teacher of the science of Yoga.

Lord Shiva is Adi Yogi and the Adi Guru. He is the foremost among the yogis and the first teacher of the science of Yoga. He is Yogeshwara, the lord of Yoga. Maheshwara, the Great God and Bhuteshwara, the lord of the five elements from which the universe is created. Shiva first imparted his knowledge of yoga to Parvati. Also, for the good of mankind, he taught the science of Yoga to the ancient Rishis who passed on this knowledge to the rest of humanity. All yogic and tantric systems consider him as the first Guru. These teachings have come down to us in the form of Agama Sastras. From these teachings, came various traditions which still exist. In Maha Shiva Purana it is mentioned that for devotees Shiva himself created Yama ,niyama, AAsana, Praanayama,Pratyaharad, and Remaining Astanga yogas. These yoga involves in controlling inner and outer Senses. And able to make ourself free from any kind of lust , desire and getting all our senses revoked from Karma. Shiva made strict rules of personal discipline. Various yoga postures and techniques of meditation were created by HIM. Dhyanam was taught which means more specifically Dedicating himself to god. And Meditation, With drawing mind from all external objects and Focusing it on one point and meditating on it. How to stop responding to anything around you by getting immersed in Samadhi. Just remain in the state of Remembering god, chanting his name, though alive but not Reacting to the outside World. It's mentioned in Shiva Puran that if one can't perform these yogas and can't maintain strict discipline, then one can recite Asta names of Lord Shiva ~~ 1. Om Shivaya Namah 2. Om Maheshwaraya Namah 3. Om Rudraya Namah 4. Om Vishnave Namah 5. Om Pithamahaya Namah 6. Om SanSarabhishaje Namah 7. Om Yogishwaraya Namah 8. Om Paramahmane Namah!
Love, light & Peace ~ Har Har Mahadev Shambu Bhole Namah Shivaya!!
