Bhakti is the Unwavering Devotion and Love for God.

After Hiranyakashyapa was killed by Narasimha avatar of Shri Vishnu, lord Vishnu asked Prahlad for a boon. Prahlad was a Jnani, a true devotee of Shri Narayana. Gods descended from heaven and offered hymns to Shri Vishnu, and Prahlad also fell at His feet and broke forth into exquisite hymns of praise and devotion. And he heard the Voice of Narayana, "Ask, Prahlad ask for anything thou desires ; thou art My favourite child; therefore ask for anything thou mayest wish." Prahlad choked with feelings replied, "Lord, I have seen Thee. What else can I want? Do thou not tempt me with earthly or heavenly boons." "That intense love, O Lord, which the ignorant bear to worldly things, may I have the same love for Thee; may I have the same intensity of love for Thee, but only for love's sake!" Then Shri Vishnu said, "Prahlad, though My intense devotees never desire for anything, here or hereafter, yet by My command, do thou enjoy the blessings of this world to the end of the present cycle, and perform works of religious merit, with thy heart fixed on Me. And thus in time, after the dissolution of thy body, thou shalt attain Me." Prahlad thought that by giving him a wishful boon the Lord was dragging him back into the worldly affairs of Maya which he did not want and instead he asked for never ending Bhakti. Bhakti therefore, is the only way to the true knowledge of God and the surest way to reach Him. Bhakti is the Unwavering Devotion and Love for God. Bhakti is the love for God and love reinforced by a true knowledge of the glory of God. It surpasses the love for all things worldly. This love is constant and is centred in God and God alone, and cannot be shaken under any circumstances whether in prosperity or in adversity. In Bhagawat Geeta also it's said "Let your mind be constantly directed towards me; be devoted to me; dedicate all your actions to me; prostrate yourself before me; over and above the claims of all Dharmas is complete surrender to me and me alone. It is not possible to see me as you have done through the study of the Vedas or by austerities or gifts or by sacrifice; it is only by one-pointed devotion, Bhakti, to me and me alone that you thus see and know me as I am in reality and ultimately reach me. It is he alone who dedicates all his notions and actions to me with a knowledge of my superiority, my devotee with no attachment and who has no enmity to any living being that can reach me". Jai Shri Narasimhadev Ji ~ Om Namo Vishnave Prabhavishnave ~ Hari Om Tat Sat Namah Shivaya!!
