If there's anything I realized about the concept in Shaivism, it is that appearance and action are both completely different.
One attains knowledge and attitude of love and proactivity in creating an evolved society. One does this through actions, however small, with utmost humility.
Appearances can deceive. Not all those dressed or titled as "Guru" are true teachers.
The best way to discover a guru is through their action, not their title.
