There are many types of Shiva mantras each serving a different purpose. Mantras invokes the Shiva Tattva to immobilise, annihilate and eliminate the enemies from the path. These mantras are Raksha kavach mantras as they protect one from dangers, threats and enemies. Chanting Shiva mantras on Chaturdashi is considered very effective. Regular chanting attracts success and prosperity in all walks of life. Shiva litrerally means one who is eternally pure, or the one who is not affected by three Gunas of prakriti. Shiva is perfection, and auspiciousness. He is the power behind all mantras. Very utterance of his name rejuvenates the mind, body and soul. Hence his mantras have tremendous healing powers. They have the power to fulfil ones desires, and can be used for attainment of moksha. By chanting Shiva Gayatri mantra one can boost his inner potential and strength. Mantras help cleanse the mind and soul of the stress, depression and other negative forces. Shiva Gayatri Mantra is chanting when one feels weak and drained of energy, both mental as well as physical. Chant this mantra to gain the blessing of Lord Shiva for the protection against diseases, sorrows and fears.
Gayatri word has its origin in the Sanskrit phrase Gayantam Triyate iti, and refers to that mantra which rescues the chanter from all adverse situations that may lead to mortality.
