Why does Lord Shiva display paradoxical attributes, like ascetic and householder, meditator of stillness and dancer, keeper of power and no empire, epitome of peace and famous temper?
because, He is the Fountainhead, where all opposites Reconcile. He, is the source and destination of all things!
