Supreme Mother Goddess Devi “I am adequate with my own weapons” when the masculine gods made their offers.

Photo: “No thanks” said the Supreme Mother Goddess Devi “I am adequate with my own weapons” when the masculine gods made their offers. This was Her stand in Her primary text, the Devi Mahatmya or Candi which is a text within a text in Markandeya Purana. She stands Supreme, quit apart from masculine divinity, her multiple arms and paraphernalia suggesting her manifold Divine powers of salvation, with Lord Shiva on the left, Brahma ji on the right, Lord Maha Vishnu and his incarnations, and various sages and devotees shown gathered around in supplication. But the Vamana Purana would go on to state that She, as Durga, took the weapons offered before proceeding to the Vindhya Hills to smote Mahisha who was in the form of a buffalo...... Either way, it remains to be said, that the demon was brought down by Durga Maa and not the male Gods. Jai Maa.
