How to worship Lord Shiva on Maha Shivratri as per #ShivaPurana -
1) Bathing of the Shiva Lingam with water, milk, honey and bel patra. This symbolizes purification of soul.
2) Vermilion paste is applied on the Lingam – this symbolizesvirtue.
Fruits are offered, which is helpful in longevity and gratification of desires.
3) Incense are lighted, which symbolizes yielding of wealth.
4) Oil lamps are lit, which symbolizes knowledge.
5) Betel leaves are offered which represents satisfaction with worldly pleasures.
