Pilgrims leaving for the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas

Photo: Among the many shrines of Lord Shiva, the cave of #Amarnath is a world-famous destination. The legendary importance of Amarnath’s cave is related to the secret of immortality told to Lord Shiva’s wife Parvati. When Lord Shiva was insisted by his wife to reveal the secret of immortality, he decided to proceed towards the cave. His journey towards this cave was marked by various incidents that made the entire way pious and blissful. News (19.07.2014) JAMMU: Amid tight security, the 23rd batch of pilgrims today left for the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas from here. As many as 1,389 pilgrims, including 890 men, 336 women and 12 children, left from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu in a cavalcade of 39 vehicles at 4:20 AM, police said.
