Lord Shiva: beloved of millions, here in A typical Siva calender photo. Note the markings on the forehead where the third eye is..its common to see people worship the image, and then, mark the God with vermillion, sandal,or other auspicious "tika' before applying it on ones own forehead...a sort of resonance ritual..
what is most interesting ,is, that in similar method,sometimes you will note people putting a little food offering at the lips of the photo, called "bhog lagana" before they partake in grace for themselves....How wonderful and vibrant are the mysteries of indian Mysticism, the intensity of the bhakta's faith and love:)
