Bhagavathy Seva at Malikappuram - Yesterday (05/01/2015)

Bhagavathy Seva at Malikappuram - Yesterday (05/01/2015)
In Bhagavathi Seva, one can see the principles of Thanthra in a simplified form. The ‘Padmam’ which is used as a seat for the Devi is a symbolic representation of the Brahmanda (Universe). Five colors, which are the symbols of ‘Panchabhootas’ (Five elements), are used to make the Padmam. Avahana of the Devi (Invocation) is the simplified version of the Pratishta (Installation).
While performing Bhagavathi Seva, the priest first elevates himself through some rituals, which have their roots in Raja Yoga and then invokes within himself the Devi consciousness. Then he purifies all the pooja materials. In the second stage, he transfers the Devi consciousness from his body to the Padmam. The Padmam, which is made up of five colors [the symbols of 'Panchabhootas' or five elements] is Universe itself. The Goddess is invoked into this Padmam and treated throughout the pooja as an honored guest.
