Emotional reunion for 4-yr-old after getting lost at Sabarimala

Sabarimala: For two-and-half-hours, Jayashri, the four-year-old, had a shocker of her life. She, who was moving along a group comprising her father, was lost in the sea of pilgrims returning from Sabarimala. Shocked and frightened, she cried and even went speechless for sometime and took shelter inside the forest. Luckily, a policeman became a saviour and reunited the girl with her father.

Jayapal and Jayashri, the father-daughter duo from Ariyalur in Tamil Nadu, was on a pilgrimage to the revered temple with a 20-member group. While returning from the sannidhanam to Pampa on Saturday morning, Jayashri went missing in the crowd on the Chandranandan road.

Jayapal thought she would be among the group and continued the journey.

Meanwhile, frightened Jayashri hid herself in the forest. Quite unexpected, Konni ASI C K Venu, who was on duty at Sabarimala, found the girl alone inside the woods. Though he asked her a few questions, she was reluctant to speak.

He further offered biscuits and water and took her to the government hospital with the help of his colleague Sudheesh. In the meantime, they conveyed the message over walkie-talkie.

Even after reaching the hospital, she remained silent. Just before Jayapal arrived in search of his lost child, she revealed her name as well as her father's name. The police had till then suspected the child to be speech-impaired.

On seeing her father, her sorrows gave way to immense happiness. Once their details were recorded, Jayapal resumed his return journey. -mathrubhumi.com
