Lord Shiva is called Bholenath because he is easily pleased and showers his blessings on his devotees without any complex rituals. He gives shelter to any devotee with sincere devotion and a clean heart. He can be pleased simply by doing a pooja with a kalash of water or placing Bilva leaves on a shivling. Lord Ram (Shri Vishnu) is his sincere devotee and worships him reverently. Shiva has been worshiped since time immemorial, he is mahakal, ruler of time, lord of the unverse.
Shiva is called Bholenath not without reason. A lot of people more than reverence and love, fear Shiva, as he’s often taken to be the God of Destruction, name for god who wanders in graveyards and rubs his body with ashes and has ghouls & ghosts for company. For destroyer, how can the name bholenath fit in. But it does, as none in the world is more innocent than Shiva. He’s childlike with no sense of malice or cunningness, no ego and no arrogance. Shiva is popularly known as Bholenath due to His guileless quality. Boons are often given pleased with the austerities and penance done in worship of Shiva. Many a times the devotees worldly or egoist demands are also satisfied. Bholenath – The Kind hearted Lord Shiva, the King of yogis. Lord Shiva is adored as the Ultimate God in the Hindu pantheon, but that does not signify He is all the more inaccessible; in fact He is called Bholenath (one who grants wishes easily) or the simple God who symbolises divine compassion.
Lord Shiva grants desires without prejudice or hesitation ; Once Lord Shiva gave a boon to Bhasmaasura as desired by him, namely that whatever he touched should be reduced to ashes. Immediately on getting the boon he lost his sense of gratitude to Shiva. He wanted to place his hand on Shiva himself! Shiva could not protect himself. He went to Shri Vishnu, the protector of the universe. Even as protector Shri Vishnu had to observe the laws of Dharma. He could not punish Bhasmaasura straightaway. He staged a drama. He assumed the form of a most beautiful damsel, Mohini. The demon is smitten by the beauty of Mohini and comes close to her. Mohini knowing about the boon obtained by him, tells him touch his forehead with his hand. The demon forgets the boon and foolishly touches his head. He is turned into ashes instantly and Lord Shiva is saved.! πŸ‘πŸ•‰πŸ“ΏπŸŒ™πŸšπŸπŸ”±πŸŒ€πŸ’€πŸ””
