KUNDALINI
Awake!
Stop not,
till
the goal is reached!”
The patriarch reminded ,
what an ancient voice beseeched.
In,
the deep quiet
cave,
realization came;
To hark the mountain call
for kundalini !
and,
persistently became,
an invocation.
Note: Kundalini, ”the coiled one”, is the divine inner energy present in each being. It is dormant and needs to be raised from its slumber. Swami Vivekananda often exhorted his disciples with a verse from the Katha Upanishad, to awaken and start on their spiritual journey. Known for his eloquence in the english language we note that he did not say “Awake and then arise” which is the natural sequence of things when we wake up in the morning. The Swami instead said clearly, Arise first , to awake. It is this placement of words that shows He was referring not to the act of waking up in the morning routine, but to that of invoking the inner energy during Dhyana, meditation.
