SHAIVA AGAMAS
Shiva in Dhyana is an image that is so well etched in our hearts, it gives immense peace just to see such a picture.
This is because God is actually present within us, as Shiva tattva.
Shiva tattva is the very essence of life itself: No being can exist without it.But we lead a whole life unaware of this tattva within, and therefore we cannot see it's presence in the entire Universe around us.
What does it mean to have Shiva Darsana? It means to encounter the Shiva within first, in intense dhyana. He comes, and then there is only Him. Only Shiva- no two, him and us! Such is His presence that it shows us the Oneness of all beings, because He is the source of all.
The ancient rishis of Kashmir were chosen by Shiva Himself to give the revelations, the Shaiv agamas, the sacred instructions or 'maps' on how to ' know Him', these formed the Kashmir Shaiv Darsana or Kashmir shaivism as we know it today. All great shaiva saints have been to Kashmir to feel the presence of Shiva and His sacred revelations, including Adi shankara and Swami Vivekananda.
We are fortunate to have these sacred texts given by Shiva, handed down by great rishis like Vasugupta, abhinavagupta , Lalleshwari and Utpala to the present times through Swami Lakshman joo.
Aum Namah Shivaye.
