Lord Shivas Attributes and their significance 
Ganga ~ Ganga represent purity, mental ,physical . Shiva holds ganga the purity with jata which is symbol of renunciation from worldly impurities. So purity can only achieved by renunciation. Shiva holding ganga in head means purity is 1st virtue to hold. He not only holds ganga but also ganga flows from his head, it mean that we must have to spread purity among others also.
Tiger Skin ~ Lord Shiva is often shown have seated on a tiger skin. Tiger represents lust; His sitting on tiger’s skin indicates that He has conquered lust. Once one is free from lust his heart experience power of love and he become fearless. It is symbol of fearlessness
Serpents ~ Shiva always wear garlanded of serpents known as Nagendra Haara. The serpent on Shiva’s neck represent the endless cycle of birth and regeneration. Another symbolism is that the snake on neck represents ego which once controlled can be worn as an ornament.
Deer ~ He holds deer on his one hand which indicates that he has not Chanchalata in his mind showing maturity and firmness to whole world.
Trident ~ Lord Shiva have his most essential weapon (called Trident or Trishula) in his right hand represents the three Gunas Rajas, Tamas and Sattva. It is considered that he rules the world through these three Gunas. He wields the world through these three Gunas. They must be under control of human. The material aspect of trishula also represents that until you dont have control over guna, u cant achieve spiritual knowledge.
Damaru ~ The Damaru in His left hand represents the Sabda Brahman. It represents OM from which all languages are formed. It is He who formed the Sanskrit language out of the Damaru. It represent the by knowledge of language all other knowledge can be preserved. As sound always get preserved in universe.
Nandi ~ God Shiva has his vehicle known as Nandi or Nandin which is bull and serves as Shiva’s mount. Because of the relation of Shiva with an animal he named as Pashupati or lord of cattle. The bull represents him a Dharma Devata as a protector of Dharma.
Chandra ~ The crescent moon indicates that He has controlled the mind perfectly. The crescent moon represents a humble state of mind where the ego is subdued. The full moon on the other hand represents a “know it all” mentality. Whereas the crescent moon continuously grows, a full moon can only get smaller.
Trilochana (third eye) ~ Trilochana, the three-eyed One, in the centre of whose forehead is the third eye, the eye of wisdom. Wisdom burns all evils of mind and ego. Also due to wisdom one can see future present past . So it is with tripund. tripund denotes the time past present future.
Gana ~ Lord Shiva has a big group of Gaṇa ro bhutagana who lives in Kailash with Shiva. It is considered that the Ganesha (son of Lord Shiva) was chosen the leader of all Gana by Shiva, so the Ganesha is also called gaṇapati or lord of the gaṇas.
Vibhuti ~ He teaches silently that people should destroy the three impurities. Anava (egoism), Karma (action with expectation of fruits), and Maya (illusion). And the three desires or Eshanas, desire for landed property, desire for woman, desire for gold. And the three Vasanas, Lokavasana, Dehavasana and Sastravasana, and then attain Him with a pure heart. Vibhuti serves as a reminder to the believer to cast away selfish and worldly desires that wrap the self in maya, and calls to mind the story of how Shiva burned Kama (the god of desire) to ashes when Kama attempted to break Shiva's focus on the Divine Truth
Unclad body ~ The unclad body symbolizes the transcendental aspect of Lord Shiva. This form of Lord Shiva depicts that Lord Shiva’s presence is much higher than this physical phenomenon.
Mount Kailash ~ Shiva is most shown to be seated with the beautiful Himalayas serving as his backdrop. Kailash in the Himalayas is said to be His traditional abode. Mount Kailasa is said to represent the center of the universe. This denotes that Lord Shiva is 'Kailas' - the bestower of peace and also 'Kailashadhipati' meaning "lord of Kailash".
