Yelagiri is a hill station in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu, India, about 250 kms away from Chennai and at nearly 1400 mtrs above sea level. Yelagiri is the perfect weekend getaway for the family and friends. Yelagiri village is surrounded by orchards, rose-gardens, and green valleys. Yelagiri comprises of a number of temples spread over several hills. Most of the Tamil people are Hindus devotees of Shiva. They commonly worship Shiva in the name of 'Nachiappan' and Parvati in the name of 'Nachiamma'. A temple for Lord Shivas son Kartik was built in the 1960s.
