The Lalitha Sahasranamam is an extremely powerful chant.It is said that Devi Herself ordered that this chant should be propagated and spread.

Lord Hayagriva

said it was given to Hayagriva ( an incarnation of Mahavishnu with the head of a horse ) when Hayagriva was in thirst of getting liberation / mukti.

It is said that by chanting the Lalitha Sahasranamam with devotion,Hayagriva was blessed with the Divine Mother Herself appearing and giving Him Mukti.

 It is said that Lalitha Sahasranamam came directly from Lord Shiva,who passed it toNandi.From Nandi,it went to Lord Hayagrivaand then to Sage Agasthiyar.

Maharishi Vyasa then conveyed it to us ! Thus now we have this wonderful gift of being able to learn and chant the Lalitha Sahasranamam !

Today, it is very easy to learn the Lalitha Sahasranamam.Lyrics and audio are provided in many youtube videos and websites.

Benefits of Chanting Lalitha Sahasranamam

It has to be noted that true chanting consist of selfless devotion to Divine Mother with no expectation.As we can see in the example of Hayagriva,He chanted Lalitha Sahasranamam with the purest intention - for liberation or Mukti and was thus blessed by Divine Mother Herself.

 The benefits will be just listed here so you have a glimpse of the glory and magnificence of the Lalitha Sahasranamam : 

- If chanted on full moon day , all diseases will vanish and long life

will be guaranteed

- If chanted,you get benefits of taking 1 crore baths in the Ganges.

- Gets the benefit ofestablishing 1 crore Lingas.

- Gets benefit of feeding 1 crore Brahmins during a famine time.

-Gets benefit of teaching 1 crore students.
- If you have fever,just touch your head and chant these 1000 names,the fever would descend and vanish.

- For getting rid of diseases,touch the holy ash and chant these 1000 names,and by wearing the ash ( vibhooti ) , all diseases will be cured.

- To escape from planetary affects ( graha dosha,sani dosha etc ) 

,store the water in a pot,and while chanting the 1000 names and sprinkling the water on ourselves will solve all problems from planets.

- For blessing of a son , a lady can chant this 1000 names and offer butter to the Divine Mother.

-Ministers or Kings,if you want to impress them, face the palace of the King and chant this 1000 names - the king will come to you and ask what you want.

-Regular chanting of Sree Lalitha Sahasranama will ward off premature death, will provide a long and contended healthy life. Fever can be cured by religiously chanting Sree Lalitha Sahasranamam by touching on a persons forehead. The number of times you chant the more benefit you are likely to get. The vibhuti used for Sree Lalitha Sahasranama archana can be applied then on the forehead, which will give much relief to fever and headache.

-  It is said that if a person chants Sree Lalitha Sahasranama keeping in mind a picture of Sree Lalitha Devi situated in the divine ocean which contains `Amrut' , he will be cured from any kind of disease related to poison.

In chanting Lalitha Sahasranamam,it usually begins with  Nyaasa ( salutations and invoking ) and Dhyaanam ( meditation on Lalitha Devi ) before the start of the 1000 names ( the 1000 names start with ' Sri Mata Sri Maharaagni ' )

The Nyaasam is such below :

It is important to chant the Nyaasa ( said to be a must ) and dhyaanam before chanting Lalitha Sahasranamam.

So as you learn the Lalitha Sahasranamam,check if you are pronouncing it correctly as per the video..  ( or any reliable source )
