Hinduism is the third largest religion with 14% of the world population following it. Former US president Barack Obama always carries a statue if Lord Hanuman with him. Steve Jobs had suggested Mark Zuckerberg to visit Kainchi Dham, a temple in Uttarakhand, to find his inner peace and spirituality.
Sanatana Dharma is is the original name of what is now popularly called Hinduism. The terms Hindu and Hinduism are said to be a more recent development, while the more accurate term is Sanatana Dharma. It is a code of ethics, a way of living through which one may achieve moksha (enlightenment, liberation). It is the world's most ancient culture and the socio, spiritual, and religious tradition of almost one billion of the earth's inhabitants. Sanatana Dharma represents much more than just a religion; rather, it provides its followers with an entire worldview, way of life and with a coherent and rational view of reality. Any pathway or spiritual vision that accepts the spiritual freedom of others may be considered part of Sanatana Dharma.
Hindus all believe in one Supreme God who created the universe. He is all-pervasive, worshiped though by different names and in different forms. Hindus see religion as a way of liberating the soul from the illusions, disappointments, and mistakes of everyday existence. Sometime between 750 and 550 b.c., Hindu teachers tried to interpret and explain the hidden meaning of the Vedic hymns. As they meditated on the Vedas, they asked: What is the nature of reality? What is morality? Is there eternal life? What is the soul? The teachers’ comments were later written down and became known as the Upanishads.
The Upanishads are written as dialogues, or discussions, how a person can achieve liberation from desires and suffering. This is described as moksha, a state of perfect understanding of all things. The teacher distinguishes between atman, the individual soul of a living being, and Brahman, the world soul that contains and unites all atmans! 🐒🕉👁🌀📿🎨🙏🏻
