This picture is of ShivaLingam in Gauri Shankar temple Akhnoor, Jammu. Its supposed to be very old temple which dates back to pandvas time. Worship Shiva with all thy heart, esp on Pradosham. Lord Rama performed Rudrabhishekam at Rameshwaram before crossing the sea to reach Lanka. And again after he killed Ravana to wash away his sins of killing a Brahmin. This abhishekam is performed to wash away one's sins and bring home prosperity and happiness. Pradosham is the one of the favourite days for Shiva. Pradosham literally means removal of sins. Worshiping ShivaLinga on Pradosham removes all sins and gives Moksha. Among the poojas performed by the devotees of Lord Shiva, the Pradosha puja is considered to be more auspicious. It is believed that during Pradosha period all the universal beings and Gods come down to earth and attend the worship. Benefits of ShivaLingam Puja ~ The act of ablution of Lord Shiva purifies the worshiper's soul. Offering of Naivaidya helps the devotee to attain a satisfactory life. Lighting a lamp, blesses the worshiper with knowledge. Offering of Darbha, grass will drive away all types of diseases. If honey, ghee and sugarcane are offered to Shiva, one can attain wealth. By bathing Lord Shiva with the holy water will help in attaining salvation.
