Om Shri Ganeshaya Namah πŸ’Ÿ ! There are many popular stories of Lord Ganesha’s life. One such story is when he accidentally became the king of hell or patal-lok. The story is has been mentioned in Ganesh Purana.
According to the legend, once Ganesha was playing with kids of rishi-munis in Parashar Rishi’s ashram. While they were busy playing, a snake-women appeared there and insisted that Ganesha to go with them to their kingdom of Naglok or hell. Ganesha could not refuse and went with them to hell. He was greeted with respect, and served many delicacies to eat.
When the snake king, Vasuki saw Ganesha being treated so well in his kingdom, he went up to him and started ridiculing him. He made fun of Ganesha's look, his elephant head and pot belly. This made Ganesha angry, and he stepped on Vasuki’s head, and snatched his crown, wearing it on his own head. (Vasuki is the snake that was used to churn the great ocean during Samundramanthan )
When Sheshnag, Vasuki’s elder brother came to know about this episode, he was furious and reached the spot where his younger brother was taught a lesson. However, when he saw Ganesha there, Sheshnag calmed down and greeted him and announced him to be the new king of patal-lok. πŸ‘‘πŸ˜πŸ•‰πŸ“ΏπŸšπŸŒ€πŸŽ¨
