When Sati, the incarnation of Mother Nature died, lord Shiva then in agony and demented wandered over the earth carrying her dead body. At the place where Sati had consumed herself, he smeared his body with her ashes and wore her skull as the garland. Plunged in great grief, distracted and detached Shiva during that time meditated and is often depicted sitting in cremation grounds. Overwhelmed with grief he sat there, wearing Mundmala and smearing her ashes all over his body. Shiva's necklace consists of heads from the bodies of mother Sati, in her previous incarnations. Shakti's incarnations kept dying although Shiva lived on and on forever. Mundmala, the garland of human skulls around his neck indicate that he controls death and kaal. "Cremation ground or kayanta, waiting. Kaya means “body,” anta means “ending.” Kayanta means “where the body ends” – not “where life ends.” All that you picked up on the planet, you have to leave behind. Immortality is a natural state for everybody. Shiva shifted his residence to kayanta or smashan. Shma refers to shava or corpse, shan refers to shanya or bed". As Shiva is the guardian of all living beings on earth and his divine presence exists everywhere around us. He is also the guardian of the spirit world and controls the souls of the dead and the wicked. This is why Shiva is also known as Bhootnath. This is a fearsome incarnation of Lord Shiva, who commands spirits and keeps them at bay, so that they don’t harm the living. Together with Goddess Kali, Shiva resides in the shamshan And also known as the ‘Shamshan Adhipati’. Shiva prevents the beings of the spirit realm from negatively affecting the lives of the living. When people perform Shiva pooja, they can completely eliminate negative spiritual energy through Shiva’s blessings. Deadly diseases can be cured and one can even be brought from the verge of death with Shiva’s blessings! All glories to Shiva ~ Har Har Mahadev !! 🔱💀👁💀🔱
