Theyyam also called Thira is a form of worshiping ritual, predominantly followed in Kannur, Kasargod and Kozhikode districts of Kerala. Theyyam is usually performed by artists from a particular caste known as Malayanmar. They go into a trance while performing Theyyam and it is said that they become God in that moment. People seek their blessings after each performance.
