Shravan month is named after the JANM NAKSHATRA (birth star) of Lord Vishnu.Maha Lakshmi, consort
For Lord Vishnu, also worships Lord Vishhu during the month of sharavan.
Goddess Lakshmi thought that during the month, which is auspicious to her husband, is the great time to worship her also. Her devotes also get blesses from her husband during the month, if they perform Varalakshmi Puja in Shravan Month.
1 ) Varalakshmi Vratham is the main Vratha In South Indian States – Andhra Pradesh , Karnataka , Tamil Nadu & Kerala .It is performed in Maharashtra & Goa.
2 ) In 2013 Varalakshmi vratham date is August – 16 - 2013 & August -23 – 2013
Rules
1. This vrat is to be observed by married women. If there is no married woman in the family, any woman or unmarried girl can observe this Vrat.
2. If a man observes this Vrat instead of a woman, he also achieves the fulfillment of desires in the same way.
3. One should observe this Vrat with full faith.
4. On the day of observance of the Vrat, from morning one should utter ‘Jai Goddess Lakshmi’ or ‘Jai Ma Lakshmi’ at heart as many times as possible
5. One should be on fast on the day of observing the Vrat on Friday, and should eat the sweet dish offered to Goddess Lakshmi ji. One may eat fruits, milk/tea or take meals once a day.
6. The important thing is that one should have full faith and devotion in Laxmiji that Goddess would certainly fulfill the desire. Most important point to note is one doing the Vaibhav Lakshmi vrat should do it with full faith, and emotion
