The Thaipusam Festival which will be observed on 31/1/2018 in all temples in Malaysia will have lunar eclipse (Chandra Grahanam) this year.

The eclipse will begin at 7.48 pm on 31/1/2018 and end at 11.11pm on the same day.

During the occurrence of eclipse there should not be any abishegam, pooja or offering of neivedhiyam to the GOD. Thus, it has been a practice that temples in Malaysia will be closed during eclipse time.

As the eclipse is occurring on Thaipusam day which is a grand celebration nationwide, temples can be made open to facilitate devotees who come specially to see the Lord. But no prayer, abishegam or neivediyam pooja shall be performed.

Those who are paying their vows in the form of Kavadi, Pal Kudam and other type of vows, are advised to do it BEFORE 7.48pm or AFTER 11.11PM on 31/1/18.
