Lord Shiva is worshiped widely with ‪#‎Rudraabhishek‬ during Shravan month starts from 1st August 2015 in North India . It is believed that rudraabhishek performed during this month can generate good fortune and divine Blessings for devotees.
As per Vedic Almanac, The Star Shravan rules the sky during the 5th‪#‎lunar‬ month of Chaitra. Hence the month of Chaitra is also called as Shravan Maas. This holiest month of the Chaturmas is known worldwide for worshiping .

The Pouring of holy ‪#‎water‬ on ‪#‎shivlingam‬ is called "Abhishek". When the holy water is poured continuously on shivlingam in accordance with strict Vedic principles and with proper recitation of mantras it is called is called "Rudrabhishek".

As per legends, the churning of oceans (Samudra Manthan) took place in the month of Shravan, during churning fourteen different types of rubies came out. The demons distributed 13 among themselves leaving the 14th- Haalahal (poison). Lord Shiva came to rescue and drank the Halahal while storing in his throat. The throat tuned blue due to effect of poison. Hence the name Neelkantha (meaning blue throat) is attributed to Lord Shiva.

To reduce the strong effect of poison, Lord Shiva wore the crescent moon on his head and Gods started offering the Ganges water to Lord Shiva to make lessen the effect of poison. Since then the Shiva devotees offer the Ganges water in this month to shiva lingam. It is believed that offering water, bel leaves, milk, and flowers to Lord Shiva during this month can generate lot of punya and divine Blessings for devotees.

Things one can perform during this Month-

• Wearing of Rudraksh.
• Reciting Shiv Chalisa and Aarti
• Chant or get Maha Mrityunjaya Jap done.
• Perform Rudrabhisheks
• Fasting on Mondays. It is believed that who fasts on all Mondays of Shravan Month are blessed with compatible spouse
