What can't be achieved by performance of Vedic rituals can be easily achieved by chanting of lords holy name. It's true that chanting the holy name of the Lord even once not only frees one immediately from the reactions of the greatest sins, but also begins to raise one to the platform of rendering loving service to the Supreme. "O glorious one, how can I cross beyond the Kaliyuga as I wander over the earth?” Narada asks Brahma. “Simply by chanting aloud the mantra of the holy names of Lord, one shakes away the age of Kali. His name is meant for counteracting the sins of the age of Kali. To save oneself from the contamination of this age there is no alternative but to chant his name. After searching through all the Vedic literatures one cannot find a method of religion for this age so sublime as the chanting of His name. It destroys the illusions that cover the conditioned soul. Chanting of the mantra makes the God Himself appear as the brilliant sun appears when a host of clouds are dispersed. And There are no rules for chanting his name. Even if he is impure, a devotee who chants his name becomes pure. One who chants his name becomes free from the sin of killing a Brahmana. He becomes free of the sin of killing a ksatriya. He becomes purified of the sin of stealing gold. He becomes purified of the sin of approaching a vrsali woman. He becomes purified of the sin of insulting pitas, demigods, or human beings. He is at once purified of the sin of abandoning all religious duties. At once he becomes liberated. At once he becomes liberated"
