BLIND ABOUT OUR OWN DIVINITY

BLIND ABOUT OUR OWN DIVINITY
The story goes like this. While in the mountains, Shiva was in a meditating posture and Parvati closed his eyes mischievously from behind. A boy appeared out of Parvati’s sweat. Shiva explains to Parvati that since his eyes were closed, the baby was born blind and calls him Andhaka.
The name "Andhaka" refers to "the blind one."
To me , the more important spiritual symbolism is that Andhaka being born "blind" relates to the journey of the soul from ignorance to enlightenment. In this journey it does face many conflicts, it is now subject to the laws of karma because it is ignorant of its own Divine nature.
The Nature of Maya is such that it can veil our own Divinity. But eventually we open our eyes to our own Eternal Self, which is made of the same Shiva Tattva.
Aum Namah Shivaye.
